Have you been feeling down lately? Take a look at your lifestyle. Have you been exercising regularly? Are you eating well? Have you been outside? Do you drink enough water? Are you getting enough sleep? If your answer to any of these questions is no, it may be negatively impacting your life.
Our body is like a machine. It needs all its parts to be healthy and running correctly to work at its top performance. When one gear of the machine is failing it puts undue stress on the rest of the mechanisms. For instance, if you are not getting enough sleep, that can negatively affect your brain’s performance, the way your body moves throughout the day and impact your mental health.
Look, I get it there is so much to do and so very little time in the day to do it all. So we tend to push sleep later and later. It becomes lower and lower on our priority list. But when you look at the bigger picture and see how much harm it really can do, you might just decide to add a few extra zzz’s to your bedtime tonight.
Keep reading to find out 5 ways your unhealthy lifestyle may be negatively impacting your life.
1) Decreased Energy Levels: Poor eating habits and lack of exercise can result in low energy levels. Thus making it difficult to keep up with the busy demands of life.
2) Increased Risk of Health Issues: Sleep deficiency and absence of exercise can cause stress and health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
3) Strained Personal Relationships: Absence of energy for social interactions due to lack of sleep or health issues can affect relationships with family and friends. And diminished self confidence from an unhealthy lifestyle can create stress within a relationship of a couple.
4) Reduced Confidence and Assertiveness: Physical discomfort and self-consciousness resulting from an unhealthy lifestyle and undermine a person’s self confidence and professional image.
5) Financial Burden- Not only can health issues from an unhealthy lifestyle incur significant medical expenses, but missed opportunities for career advancement due to low self confidence may limit earning potential in the long run.
