6 Ways To De-Stress
Life has been a whirlwind lately. There have been so many ups and downs. And let me tell you the stress is real. But instead of letting it get to me I am trying to find ways to de-stress. Because I know it is super important to take care of your mental and emotional health to live a happy and fulfilling life.
I knew I couldn’t be the only one going through stressful times, so I wanted to share with you 6 ways to de-stress when life is getting you down.
6 Ways To De-Stress
1) Read a book.
Reading for just 6 minutes a day can reduce stress by up to 68%, according to a 2009 study from the university of Sussex. It helps to distract the brain from your daily stressors. 2) Take a walk-in nature.
Taking a 30min walk-in nature lowers the levels of your cortisol, aka stress hormone. It is also known to reduce depression.
3) Enjoy your favorite candle.
Candles contain calming properties. The aromatics of the candle can calm and relax the mind and promote positive emotions. Also, tranquil ambiance of the flickering light relaxes you.
4) Write in a journal.
Writing down your daily stressors helps to get them off your brain and onto the paper, creating an emotional release of the negative thoughts and feelings. It also helps you manage your emotions and sort out your thoughts.
5) Take a break from technology.
The constant notifications and distractions from technology can leave us feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Take a few hours a day to unplug from technology to help you feel relaxed and in the present moment.
6) Listen to calming music.
You can promote a calm and meditative state by listening to music with a slower tempo. It can also decrease your cortisol levels and lower your blood pressure and heart rate. Music can make you feel happier, more relaxed and less stressed.
Everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. Remember to take care of yourself and prioritize your well-being. Experiment with different destressing methods to find what works best for you.
