Healthy Smoothies are our New Jam!
Well maybe not sooo new. Big Guy and I used to make them yrs ago. We got into one of those health binges that comes just ast fast as it goes. LOL. Of course as soon as our health bing was over, so were the smoothies.
A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to not only get back into them but to stick with it this time. You may be wondering what a healthy smoothie is. Well it is simply healthy fruits/veggies blended up with a healthy liquid to create a smoothie.
For instance Big Guy and I add spinach and kale with random fruits that we like, add some water and create our smoothie. We have no recipes or specific amounts at this moment. We just throw it in the blender and see what comes out. Some of our favorite fruits to throw in are bananas, apples, pineapple, strawberries, oranges and mangos. But you can pretty much just throw in whatever type of fruits you like and be good. So far we haven’t come up with anything horrible tasting, which makes me think this healthy smoothie thing is pretty hard to screw it up.
I would like to say that one day I would like to have some specific recipes to use when I want to get more of a certain vitamin or nutrients in. Or specific recipes with their own specific tastes and flavors to them. I have seen some recipes that call for peanut butter if you are into that. Or a citrus smoothie. I have even seen an oatmeal smoothie recipe. I am sure one day we will branch out to those. But for now I will stick to my “throw it all in” mindset. Lol
