My Thoughts Lately
I don’t know why, but lately I have been thinking about growing in age, and the way we take care of our bodies. More specifically, what happens to our bodies, as we age. Maybe its because, I am maturing in age. Or maybe it’s because I have been seeing my family grow older. It could be because I am starting to feel the strains in my body. Or maybe it’s because I hear my family talk about their aches and pains from age.
Jumping right out of bed is getting just a bit less jumpy. And you know how sometimes when you are sitting and you get yourself comfortable by placing your foot underneath you. Well I noticed after sitting for a bit like that, standing up to walk on that foot, takes a couple of extra seconds. I have heard family members talk about how making a bed hurts their back a bit. And one of my family members doesn’t care to go out in the cold, due to the risk of getting sick. I also had a family member explain how uncomfortable dentures are.
Maybe Inevitable But There Is Good News!
I’m sure its a bit of everything that has me pondering on this subject. And as I am typing about my families encounters and my own, they seem a bit funny to think about. But truth is, these are common strains of aging. Everyone has pains and strains as they grow. Some have different aches and at different times as others, but we all have them. They are going to happen sooner or later. They are inevitable.
The good news is, though these strains are inevitable, but we can help to prevent them. And it begins now. Right now! If we start taking care of our bodies Right Now, we will help to prevent so many illnesses, aches and pains that we might have gone through as we aged. I am not saying your are going to be running around like your are 16 when you are 85. I am just saying that instead of a whole bunch of aches and pains, you might just have a handful.
Start Taking Care of Your Body! It’s The Only One You Have!
We have to start taking care of our bodies now, because it’s the only one we have. Maybe light years away we will have the ability to switch our vessels once we have used our current one up, but at this moment in time we don’t. The body we currently have is the one that has to last us the whole way. Through our whole journey. So why not make it a good journey. Why not make it last, by taking care of ourselves.
I am not talking about a complete over-haul. Unless that is what you want to do. I am just talking about making simple life changes that benefit your body. Things like taking a short walk daily, or eating smaller portions. You can start doing morning and evening stretches. Start practicing good posture. And you can also increase your water in take. Simple changes like these, can have a big impact down the road.
I know I have convinced myself to making healthy changes. Hopefully I have convinced you to do the same!
